Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Maharatna Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, has released the POWERGRID Apprentice Recruitment 2026 notification for engagement of apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961. Separate detailed advertisements have been issued for 10 regional establishments – Northern Region I, II & III, Eastern Region I & II, North Eastern Region, Western Region I & II, and Southern Region I & II – together offering 270 apprenticeship training slots (computed by adding the region-wise totals) for a one-year duration. Candidates can apply online from 25.08.2026 to 10.09.2026. There is no application fee and no written exam or interview.

POWERGRID Apprentice Vacancy 2026 – Region & State-Wise Details

Candidates should apply to only one region/state of their choice. The table below gives the total posts notified for each region and the states it covers.

Note that Southern Region-I does not notify any post under the Graduate (Civil) trade.

Reservation for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwBD is applicable across all regions as per the Apprentices Act, 1961 and Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 (amended by the Apprenticeship (Amendment) Rules, 2025), amended from time to time. The number of training slots in every region is provisional/tentative and may vary as per the actual requirement of the company and reservation compliance at the time of engagement.

POWERGRID Apprentice Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for POWERGRID Apprentice Recruitment 2026 is uniform across all 10 regions and is assessed as on the closing date of application (10.09.2026).

  • Candidates must possess the qualification prescribed for the trade and must have passed their final examination within two years from the closing date of application (i.e., between 11.09.2024 and 10.09.2026)
  • Candidates must be medically fit as per the provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961
  • Candidates must hold a full-time regular degree/diploma/ITI qualification from a recognized institute/university; part-time, correspondence, distance, or online mode qualifications are not accepted
  • The date of declaration of result must be mentioned in the marksheet; if not, a supporting certificate from the college/university is required
  • The percentage of marks in the final examination must be mentioned in the final/consolidated marksheet, or a Percentage Conversion Letter must be submitted
  • The required area of specialization must be mentioned in the certificate, or a supporting letter from the institute is required

Candidates are NOT eligible to apply if they:

  • Are awaiting the results of their final examination
  • Have not completed 18 years of age
  • Have already undergone or are currently undergoing apprenticeship training in any organization, for any duration
  • Have more than 1 year of job experience

POWERGRID Apprentice Age Limit

  • Minimum age: Candidates must have completed 18 years of age at the time of application, across all regions
  • Applicants must be Indian citizens and at least 18 years old at the time of application
  • No maximum age limit or age relaxation details are specified in any of the 10 regional notifications

POWERGRID Apprentice Salary 2026

The monthly stipend structure is uniform across all 10 regions, subject to satisfactory performance and attendance.

  • An additional ₹2,500 per month is payable if company accommodation is not provided or availed
  • The DBT portion is provided by the Government of India under the NATS scheme, subject to an active Aadhaar-seeded, DBT-enabled bank account
  • Apprentices are entitled to 12 days of Casual Leave (pro-rata) and 15 days of Medical Leave for the one-year duration, across all regions

POWERGRID Apprentice Application Fee

There is no application fee for POWERGRID Apprentice Recruitment 2026 in any of the 10 regions. None of the notifications require a written examination or interview.

POWERGRID Apprentice Selection Process

  • Applications are screened in merit order based on eligibility criteria and the qualification prescribed for each trade, region-wise
  • Incomplete or ineligible applications are summarily rejected without intimation
  • Reservation for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwBD is applied as per the Apprentices Act, 1961
  • Candidates are called for document verification in a ratio of 1:5 against the notified training slots, in merit order
  • Shortlisted candidates are informed through their registered email; no TA/DA is paid for attending document verification
  • A final merit list is prepared from candidates found suitable after document verification
  • Selected candidates must accept a tripartite apprenticeship contract on the NATS/NAPS portal and submit a medical certificate and police verification before engagement
  • For PwBD candidates in Western Region-II, reservation/relaxation is subject to submission of a medical certificate for permanent disability, and only candidates with not less than 40% of the relevant disability are eligible for the PwBD benefit

Documents Required for POWERGRID Apprentice Recruitment

  • Apprenticeship registration/enrolment number under NAPS/NATS with 100% completed profile
  • Scanned educational certificates and marksheets
  • Proof of age (Matriculation Certificate, Aadhaar Card, Passport, etc.)
  • SC/ST/latest OBC(NCL) caste certificate, if applicable
  • Bank cancelled cheque or first page of passbook (DBT-enabled account)
  • Recent colour passport-size photograph and signature
  • Disability certificate/UDID card in the prescribed format, if applicable (Unique Disability ID required for Western Region-I)

How to Apply for POWERGRID Apprentice Recruitment 2026

  1. Register as a candidate/student on NAPS (for ITI-Electrician) at apprenticeshipindia.gov.in, or on NATS (for Degree/Diploma in Engineering/Civil) at nats.education.gov.in, and complete/update the profile with all required documents
  2. After obtaining the NAPS/NATS registration/enrolment number, visit www.powergrid.in
  3. Go to Careers → Engagement of Apprentices → Apply Online
  4. Select the region/state you wish to apply for (only one region/state is allowed)
  5. Fill in the online application with the required details and upload documents
  6. Submit the application before the last date, 10.09.2026

Applications must be submitted online through the official POWERGRID website only; no other mode of application is accepted, in any region.

POWERGRID Apprentice Important Instructions

  • Candidates should apply for only one region/state of their choice, out of all 10 regions
  • Candidates submitting multiple applications, or applying for more than one region/state/trade, will not be considered and their applications will be summarily rejected
  • The Name and Date of Birth on the application must match the Matriculation Certificate, Aadhaar Card, and bank account records
  • Candidates found ineligible, or providing false information, may be disqualified at any stage of the engagement process or during the engagement period
  • Completion of the apprenticeship does not entitle the apprentice to any claim for employment with POWERGRID
  • Training location will be decided as per facility availability and may be changed during the apprenticeship, including for job rotation, within the notified state
  • Shared bachelor accommodation may be provided subject to availability
  • Apprentices must maintain a weekly work diary and adhere to POWERGRID’s code of conduct
  • POWERGRID reserves the right to terminate the apprenticeship for absenteeism, indiscipline, misconduct, poor performance, or policy violation
